Spotlight: Student Nurses Have Successful Poster Presentation

Have you ever thought about the total health of your community?  Health as a state of being does not merely involve our physical state, but also includes psychological, spiritual and socioeconomic factors.  Community health practice encompasses developmental health care needs in all age groups from birth to death.  These needs might include providing assistance with toddlers, help dealing with the emancipation of teenagers, anticipatory guidance for reducing stress or help coping with death.  These are all issues that many families and individuals face everyday.

Nursing students in Cecilia Peasley's Community Health class were recently challenged to bring to light the manner in which communities deal with life health care needs.  For the second year in a row poster presentations were displayed that highlighted various areas of health.  These areas included children, maternal and child health, drug use and abuse, mental health concerns, aging issues, cancer care and issues associated with handicaps such as deafness and blindness.
