Volunteer Center: Christmas Wish List
The 27th annual Christmas Wish program is underway. Close
to 500 area children will receive gifts this year, thanks to the
generosity of individuals, groups, and businesses in the Alpena
area.
The children included in the program are recommended by the
public schools and Headstart programs in Alpena county and
Hillman. Potential donors can call or stop by the
Volunteer
Center to be matched up with the requests of a child or
children. This year, the matching will take place November 8 - December
3. Gift donations will be received from November 29 - December
3 in room 104 of the
Center building. Volunteers work from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
welcoming our donors with smiles and words of appreciation.
Gifts can be wrapped or unwrapped; students from the Youth Volunteer
Corps and the Honor Societies of Alpena High School and Thunder Bay
Junior High School take care of wrapping for those donors who prefer
not to do it themselves.
Monetary donations are also accepted. These donations are
used to purchase the requests that are not met by our gift donors.
