The Alpena Volunteer Center matches people with volunteer positions suited to their needs.  Please fill out our online application or call and a coordinator will discuss opportunities with you.  For more information on these or other volunteer jobs, please call the Center at (989) 358-7271. 

Current requests for volunteers in the community include the following:

Child and Family Services of N.E. Michigan has openings for individuals who can transport foster children to appointments.  Compensation for mileage and meals.  Background check required.

The Baby Pantry assists parents during times of need by providing items such as formula, baby food, diapers, clothing and household items for babies and toddlers.  The Baby Pantry is open on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays each month from 9:00am to 3:00pm.  They are in need of volunteers.

Community Tech is a nonprofit business that recycles used computer components providing functional machines to consumers for a nominal fee.  They welcome volunteers, regardless of computer knowledge.  Anyone able to use a screwdriver can help!

The Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary has many interesting and fun positions for volunteers.  Please call for additional information.

Alpena Habitat for Humanity seeks an office volunteer knowledgeable in computer use, particularly Microsoft Word.

Huron Humane Society has openings for volunteers who love our four-legged friends.  Please consider devoting some time to animals who need your love.  There are many ways you can help.  Call the Volunteer Center for information.

If you love books, the Alpena Public Library would like to meet you.  You can help with their Adopt-a-Shelf program or a variety of other volunteer tasks.  There are also opportunities with their summer book fair.

The Alpena Youth Center is looking for Board members.  Meetings are held quarterly for two hours.

The Senior Center has an opportunity for someone to assist the Activities Coordinator with planning arts and crafts, outings, dances, birthday parties, and with the Home Spun shop.

The Children's Closet is looking for people to help sort donated articles.  The Children's Closet provides gently used clothing to families.

The Depression and Bi-Polar Support Alliance seeks Board Members.  Meetings are held monthly.
