Instructional
Program Philosophy
The following statements
describe the philosophy applied to the development and implementation of the
Manufacturing Technology (MFG) program curriculum, as well as the acquisition of
equipment, selection of teaching aids and student recruitment.
Continuous Improvement
- The MFG program and instructors are committed to
continuous quality improvement as applied to lab equipment, supplies, and
course content with a three year forecast for most major program changes,
though this may occur on an informal basis.
- The MFG curriculum is a dynamic and flexible
training system, improving daily, always adjusting to industry trends and
student needs.
- MFG instructors will share all course content
developed between fellow instructors to allow the greatest potential for
improvement within the curriculum.
Student Development
- MFG instructors and staff are committed to
creating a student friendly learning environment that allows students to
attain the highest standards possible, in the least amount of time, thus
making it possible to enter into more advanced manufacturing content. Easier is better than harder, if the
high standards are maintained.
- It is the goal of MFG faculty to create
entry-level courses that allow students to become successful whatever their
level of experience or academic standing may be.
- Create a learning environment that has the
greatest potential for student success, while also allowing the
possibility to fail.
- MFG faculty is committed to providing the latest
and most accurate information to students who are transferring to a
four-year institution.
- MFG faculty and staff are committed to fostering
the desire in all students to become independent learners and encouraging
them to become life long learners.
Program Development
- The MFG program will integrate the technology
and skills of design, manufacturing and quality control to create a
seamless process throughout the curriculum.
- MFG faculty are committed to using the latest computer
technology to present program/course content within the classroom in a way
that allows for continuous improvement with clear concise multimedia
presentations.
- MFG faculty will take full responsibility for
recruiting students, not expecting anyone else to be able to communicate
the potential of what we do and the value it holds.
- MFG program and student needs, will take
priority over faculty professional interests.
Faculty and Staff Development
- MFG faculty consider themselves as students as
well as instructors, thus they are ever committed to a lifetime of
learning.
- Faculty will develop areas of expertise that
will vary from instructor to instructor, giving diversity in manufacturing
content throughout the program.
- The faculty are committed to staying abreast of
current manufacturing trends and technologies, pursuing their personal
development for program advancement.
