Policies: Student Rights:
Smoking Policy

The Board of Trustees approved a resolution prohibiting smoking in all campus
buildings. Smoking outside campus buildings shall not take place
within 50 feet of any ACC building except in the following designated
smoking areas:
- Besser Technical Center - outside the east entrance; outside
the north entrance facing The Center (at the end of the north-south
corridor near the Facilities Management Office, Room 101.
- The Center - outside the north entrance by the ACC Library;
outside the west entrance near Park Arena.
- Natural Resources Center - outside the north entrance; outside
the west entrance.
- Van Lare Hall - outside the east entrance; outside the west
entrance; outside the south entrance off the student lounge.
Persons wishing to report violations of this policy can file an
Incident Report in the office of the Dean of Student Affairs (VLH
107) as follows:
- Fill out an Incident Report giving the complete details of
the incident.
- Turn in the completed report to the office of the Dean of Student
Affairs.
- The Dean of Student Affairs will review the Incident Report
and make a decision on whether to issue formal charges or take
other action.
- When formal charges are issued, the student will receive a written
notice listing the charges. A meeting with the student will be
scheduled at which time the student selects the formal
or informal judicial process they wish to pursue.
PLEASE NOTE: The person or persons issuing the complaint must
appear as a witness if a formal hearing is scheduled.
- Penalty:
- First offense - verbal warning
- Second offense - $15 fine
- Third offense - $25 fine
- Fourth offense - five days probation
