Status of the Pathways Project
The internal phase of the Pathways campaign
began on January 7, 2003. Following is a brief history of the
Pathways Project.
State Funding Approved!
On March 24, 2005, Alpena Community
College received official notification from the State of
Michigan that it will receive $1.66 million for the
Pathways to the Future Project. According to ACC
President Olin Joynton, both the House and Senate
appropriations committees approved ACC’s Pathways to the
Future capital outlay request. Joynton said, “The
Pathways Project will greatly benefit our students and
we’re excited to move to the next phase in its
implementation.”
Joynton also acknowledged the
efforts of Senator Tony Stamas and Representative Matt
Gillard for their leadership efforts in keeping ACC’s
project in the forefront of the Lansing legislature.
They aggressively carried ACC’s message to anyone who
would listen, including the fiscal agencies and
legislative leadership. |

Fundraising Surpasses Goal
|

On
April 15, 2004, ACC Foundation President Jim Masters announced that
that the Pathways campaign surpassed its $1.4 million goal.

Celebrating O' the Green
|
| With
a total of $165,000 remaining to reach its $1.4 million goal, the
ACC Foundation hosted Celebrating O’ the Green at the Thunder Bay
Recreation Center on March 17, 2004. |

Besser Foundation Challenge Grant
On November 13, 2003 the ACC Foundation
received a $100,000 challenge grant from the Besser Foundation,
bringing the campaign total to $1,103,000. |

Passing the $1 Million Mark
|
| On
November 7, 2003 the Pathways campaign surpasses the $1 million mark
with a $10,000 gift from National City Bank. |

Lafarge Contributes $150,000
|
| In
September 2003 the campaign received a $150,000 donation from
Lafarge North America, bringing the campaign total to $945,000. |
|

Public Fundraising Phase Initiated
|
| On
June 21, 2003 the ACC Foundation kicked off the public phase of the
Pathways campaign with a total of $615,000 raised. This announcement
took place at the Alpena Area Chamber of Commerce Good Morning,
Alpena program, which was hosted at ACC. |

Silent Fundraising Phase Begins
|
| In March 2003 the silent phase of the campaign
began with the solicitation of major donors.
A
total of 90% of ACC faculty and staff took a leadership role in
support of the campaign and pledged a total of $55,150. This amount
was matched by former ACC president Dr. Donald L. Newport and his
wife Dee, which brought the total donated by employees to $110,150.
