Computer Technology Laboratories

The Challenge
Integrating computer technology into the curriculum is a
continuous process at the College. Computers have become teaching
tools in the disciplines of Mathematics, Science, Social Science,
Humanities, Fine Arts, Health Sciences and Industrial Technology.
The goal is to upgrade, centralize, and expand the College’s
computer laboratories. Currently, computer labs are spread across
four campus buildings and lack efficiency, which makes it difficult
to provide students with up-to-date technology.
The Plan
- Renovate existing space within the Besser Technical Center and
add 4,000 square feet with three 900 square foot computer
laboratories, each of which will have 26 personal computer
stations, a centralized printer station and a projection system.
- Develop a new multipurpose computer laboratory to support
several proposed new technical training programs which reach
across the disciplines of technical education, computer
information systems and the arts.
- This consolidation will allow ACC to offer:
- More efficient and expanded delivery of tutorial services to
students using labs
- Course-specific instructional software provided in labs
- Develop specific training space to meet the ever changing
needs of business and industry on a contracted services plan.
Renovation of the computer labs is projected to cost $1,500,000
as part of the Pathways to the Future
campaign total costs.
