Capital Outlay Letters
On
September 1, 2004, ACC's portion of the Pathways to the Future
Campaign officially concluded, surpassing its $1.4 million goal. The
next step for the Pathways to the
Future project requires a $1.65 million match from the State of
Michigan’s Capital Outlay Fund. ACC has had a
Capital Outlay request on file with the State since 2002, and the
College must wait for State approval of matching funds before
construction can begin. The College is fully prepared to move ahead
once it receives the appropriate authorization.
The College has been
told that the Pathways project is currently on the list for
consideration by the Capital Outlay Committee. The State Budget
Director is fully aware of the importance of this project to the
region, and we have the support of Senator Tony Stamas and
Representative Matt Gillard. They have aggressively carried our
message to anyone who will listen, including the fiscal agencies and
legislative leadership.
Rather than leaving
communication exclusively to the pros, ACC is moving forward with a
letter writing campaign to influence the legislature.
On Thursday, November 18, the College received word from our
lobbyist in Lansing that "it looks very good that our project will
receive funding this year... and Senator Johnson is supportive." Our
contact goes on to say that our letter-writing campaign has gotten
the attention of the legislators and it is now time to "call off the
dogs."
ACC and the ACC Foundation thank everyone who has participated in
our letter-writing campaign. We have succeeded in making our point!
Any additional letters of support for the Pathways project can be
sent to Senator Tony Stamas, who has agreed to relay the letters to
the appropriate people. We've modified the support letters to
reflect this change.
As before, you can download the letters
from the links below. Use them as a basis for writing your own
letter or just fill in the appropriate areas with your information.
